Frequently Asked Questions

What are the slideshows?

They are a collection of groups of my photos which you can download. Once downloaded, just doubleclick on them to activate them and see the pictures. They are in full resolution (800 x 600) for your computer screen. Each frame lasts about 4 seconds, and they will be in a different random order each time you play any slideshow.

Whenever I try to download a slideshow, I get a warning that says, "Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source, do not open or save this file." What about this warning?

The slideshows are stand-alone EXE (executable) files, and that is why you get the above warning. (You don’t need any special program to run them.) I scanned them with Norton Antivirus after I made them, and you are welcome to scan them too. They do not contain viruses. They are safe to download onto your computer.

I have dial-up phone internet. How long will it take to download a slideshow?

The slideshows vary in length. The download time may be 10 minutes for the shorter ones, maybe 20 minutes for the longer ones.

How can I extract the individual pictures from a slideshow?

While a slideshow is playing, hit the letter "e" on your keyboard. This will allow you to extract the individual pictures into JPG’s. A small pop-up box will appear, where you can direct the computer where to place the JPG pictures.

What software did you use to make the slideshows?

I used Irfanview, which is free. You can download it by clicking here:

With Irfanview, you can make slideshows, screen savers, view individual pictures, do special effects, reduce red-eye, and lots of other things.
